Session 34 Recap
Eisgfion (City of High Elves) - Night Time - Approaching the city gates
Important note We are here to complete the last task from Verul. To pick up a package for Arlayna. And we have no idea where to pick it up, what it is, or who’s giving it to us. We do know it's a wood elf.
There are two guards guarding the open gate. They don’t seem all that concerned about us approaching the gates. Sorcha goes and has a chat with them. She asks about the Mayor. They were surprised to learn that we know the Mayor but alas he is out of town on business.
They let us enter. We ask if they know of a place where we could get some sleep tonight. One of the guards has a cousin who runs the local inn called the Wandering Unicorn. So the game plan is don’t cause any trouble while in town (do we really ever cause trouble?), find out if the mayor is really out town and when he’ll be back, and finally stop in to see Jamie and Caitlin.
Arrive at the Wandering Unicorn. It's pretty bland inside; mostly stone. There is one painting on the wall. There is an animal head on the wall but it’s unclear what kind of animal it was. We are called over to the bar by the bartender. He is shirtless except for a vest. Charlotte is immediately smitten with him. He introduces himself as Tava. We inquire about rooms for the night or a couple nights. He can accommodate us and ask why we’re in town and we tell him. He then proceeds to flirt with Nalagon and Charlotte just about dies.
He serves us dinner of rabbit stew and ice wine (Althena does not partake in the rabbit stew). Tava goes into the basement and pulls out something he got from the nearby dwarven clan: Dwarven Gin. Nalagon tries it and can almost breathe fire, Vistra is quite happy. The five of us start having a personal chat through the Bracers. Nalagon and Charlotte catch on and go “they’re doing it again”. They realize we’re talking about Charlotte and she says she doesn’t want to be a burden. Nalagon says Charlotte can always come back to Kasimir with her and work in Nalagon’s shop.
Plan for tomorrow is to do some shopping after our other stops. Need to hit a magic store and weapon shop. Tava leads us to our rooms. Take a long rest.
Morning We eat breakfast at the Inn. Tava is still heavily flirting with Nalagon who could care less and Charlotte is still swooning over Tava. We leave and head to city hall. We are greeted by the secretary who tells us the Mayor is out of town and won’t tell us when he’ll be back. She (or he, I can’t remember) gives us the brush off when we tell them we know the mayor. We ask if we can see the deputy mayor and they brush us off again. Seeing as we’re not getting anywhere here we leave and head to see Jamie and Caitlin. They own a print shop called Fraser Print Shop.
We enter and are greeted by the Frasers. They are surprised to see us as they didn’t think we’d get here so fast (helps that we blinked across the continent in a matter of seconds). We tell them the reason we are here and ask if they have any ideas on how we may locate this person who is supposed to give us this package. We also introduce Charlotte and tell them her story. Jamie says Charlotte can stay with them but she decides to stay with us. We then talk about the town. It’s a sleepy town, not much happens. We ask about Dark Elves and are informed there are some but not many as this town is mostly High Elves and the High Elves treat the Dark Elves badly. They also inform us that the Mayor is out of town on some trade deal and they don’t know when he’ll be back.
We leave the print shop and head to the magic shop; Earierth’s Magical Emporium. We are greeted by Earierth herself and she tells us her specialty is spell scrolls. She gives us a list of her spell scrolls. Tolvin uses detect magic on the box of wands she has but nothing pops. We do a little shopping there and leave for the next shop.
Induimil’s Wonderous Armaments is a weapons shop. While their Nalagon has a chat with Charlotte about getting her a weapon. It's now midday and there’s a local Bazaar going on so we walk around it for a while. After the bazaar we head to Arwelda’s Vault, the local general store. Inside the store there is a female elf talking to a weasel named Nellothien. We don’t stay long and head to the local Temple of Ogma. We are greeted warmly by Orrian Faquinal (make elf) and Foznolda (female elf). Tolvin chats with them and trades some books as well. We leave there.
As we’re walking around we’re discussing this package we’re supposed to receive and wondering if it's real or not (I mean would anyone be surprised if Verul gave us an impossible task to complete so she doesn’t have to give up Delius?) We come to an agreement on a plan. First Sorcha will give her Scroll of Sending to Tolvin so he can learn it in order to send a message to Arlayna asking if she knows anything about this package. Second, both Druids will learn the Spell of SkyWrite in order to write a message in the sky for the person delivering the package. Third we’ll ask if Jamie can print some flyers that we can place around town. On our way back to the inn we stop at the print shop and tell Jamie the plan and he agrees to print up the flyers.
Back at the Wandering Inn late in the afternoon and just chill for the night. The inn is much fuller than normal, people heard about us and came looking. We order food and drinks and Althena plays music with another bard named Kerym. Long rest.
Morning' Tolvin sends a message to Arlayna and receives one back (Package not yet arrived in Eisgfion. Make ourselves known and the carrier will find us). We learn about an Enchanted beach in town and decide to check it out. Tolvin stays back at the inn. On our way to the beach we stop at Talia’s Garment Shop because we heard we could get some beach clothes here. Talia makes all the clothing in the shop herself; she has even been experimenting with a new kind of material that is waterproof. We buy some.
Arrive at the beach. Wander around a bit. Althena strums a lute and a bunch of murderous crabs come out of the water; several small ones and one big ass crab. (Did somebody bring the Old Bay?)
