We pick up right where we left off. All the bad guys are dead, of course, and we have the map of Rharne from the War Lord’s body.
We hear a voice saying “I knew my brother’s plan would lead to his death.” The voice comes out with his hands up. He means us no harm and would quite prefer it if we didn’t kill him. So we have a little chat.
He tells us: The weapons we carry (we = the Aliya Five) are artifacts of the High-elf Aliya and were created with the sole purpose of killing goblins. Aliya wanted to eradicate all of the goblins in the world. Eventually the goblins went into hiding and the High Elves hid those weapons a few centuries ago. Because the High Elves “won” the battle they were able to paint the goblins as monsters and got to write the history. (History is written by the victors)
Althena uses magic to detect his thoughts. He wants to live but still wants our weapons (because they kick their asses). His plan is to convince us to destroy the weapons or at least have us agree to thinking about the idea of destroying them. If we destroy the weapons he believes we won’t keep being attacked by the goblins because they’ll see us as heroes for destroying those weapons and the goblins will be able to come back into society because they won’t be afraid.
We agree to think about (though we won’t do anything until after we face the big bad). The goblin, whose name is Guluias, tells us about the goblins settlement on the east coast of Rharne called Porzaq. We ask him if he knows anything about destroying godly weapons (could come in handy later). He says if we dispel the magic from it then we can destroy it. And he leaves.
We leave and continue our journey to Kasimir. When we get closer to Kasimir, we notice there's quite a lot more activity around the city than there was when we were last here three week ago. (It’s only been three weeks, feels like 3 years, must be 2020). There are more carts, more merchants, and a lot of tent cities. This must be what Alex means by “small party”.
Garret wants to go straight to the Armored Goat and get everyone rooms including himself, he doesn’t want to make everyone nervous with his arrival (should we be worried that if people knew he was here they’d be nervous?)
In the Armored Goat there are lots of people/patrons. It appears to be the end of the dinner rush and the staff is running around like crazy trying to accommodate everyone. Amanda sees us and is extremely excited to see us and runs right over to Garret (they really seem to “know” each other very well, and the rest of us are chopped liver. Thanks Amanda). We asked about the huge gathering of people and she says it’s all for the party for Tiberus’ birthday. She says she doesn’t have any rooms for us but does have a room for Garret (of course she does, her room). It's not a problem, we have a hut in the Hermione bag that can hold us.
We sit at a table to eat and drink and chat. We start questioning Garret. He doesn’t want to mess up the plans Alex has for the party and really wants to make an entrance. He ask if we were invited to the party, nope we just risked our lives to get a stupid ring for Alex and he doesn’t even invite us to the party. We ask him about Amanda. Garret says they've been friends for a really long time (sure just friends) and it's been 5 years since he last saw Kasimir, his family and her. There have been a few letters between the two. Garret asks if we want to go to the party because he can get us in if we want and he can even get us nicer clothes. We say yes to the party but we still have our fancy clothes from the party at the King’s so we don’t need those. We bring up good old Uncle Cryus (Vistra wants to ask Garret if he knows Alex is his cousin not his brother, Sorcha says no). Garret doesn’t know much other than he died when Garrett was an infant. Garret also says Alex is hard headed and used to getting his way (sounds like what we know about Cryus). Garrett says he missed his family and is happy to be home.
We retire for the evening. Archie, Amanda’s young male halfling is sleeping on the kitchen floor to make room for Garret to sleep. We head out back and cast the tiny hut.
In the morning, we head inside and eat breakfast. Garret joins us. We ask him about getting a gift for Tiberius. He says don’t, he’s gonna hate this whole party. This party is more for Alex then it is for Tiberius.
Some of the group depart to do some shopping, some stay to drink and be merry, but are listening in through the bracers so if we need something we can just send it through bracers.com.
The shopping group goes to Nalagon’s The Fair Scale and the Blacksmith. In Nalagon’s they purchase potions and wands. They also make a plan to go with Nalagon to Verul’s forest two days after the party to ask for help with the big bad and ask about Nalagon’s friend.
The group arrives back at the inn for lunch. In walks Garrett and a human male. They come over to us. Garrett introduces the friends as Jaime Frazer (James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Frazer. It’s fantasy Scotland it was bound to happen). Jamie has a problem, his wife, Caitlyn, is missing (DM didn’t want to go full on Outlander). She went missing some during; she was out with friends and never came back. Caitlyn is blond, medium height, slim build human. (DM assures us Jaime didn’t kill her). They are from Fiodhalart.
We’ll look into it (of course we will).
