38 days to the Big Bad
At dinner at the Temple of Toraches. We are all there. Fenris and Murphy walk in and head to our table and join us. They give us copies of the vision Murphy had earlier in the day. We chat for a bit about the vision. We ask if he has any information about the impossible child. He says the only thing he knows is she looked like an elf mix. Althena asks him if he could help her locate her mother. He agrees but says he’ll only do it after we save the world. Fenris and Murphy leave. Azi and Tolvin head to their rooms to do some more reading on their tomes. Sorcha, Vistra, and Althena decide to head to the Temple of Nadur. Vistra and Sorcha spent the night at the Temple of Nadur while Althena returned to the Temple of Toraches.
(Long Rest)
Next Morning
Tolvin and Azi are at the dining hall looking a little worse for wear as both were up all night studying their tomes. They both order large strong coffee. Althena joins them. Sorcha and Vistra eventually arrive and join them. Plan for the day: Visit the Collector, do some shopping, then meet with the king.
We head to the Collector. Tolvin wants to sell her the tome with the tongue stapled to it. It is label book #2 of 5. (This is the book Azi bought for Tolvin). The Collector doesn’t want to buy it but will exchange it for some items. She gets the book, Azi gets a ring, Tolvin gets a belt and they split some gold. Sorcha is looking for an amulet but the Collector doesn’t have what she’s looking for. It’s about lunch and the group decides the Dancing Diamond (Dwarf Bar) to grab a bite to eat. Azi, Tolvin, Althena, and Sorcha are the only non-dwarfs in the place and stick out like a sore thumb. They have a seat and order drinks. In the bar is the Dwarf King’s (Thoradon) bodyguard. She walks up to us and introduces herself as Yorrethra. She chats with us about the party at the palace and particularly with Vistra about life on Pride Rock. She tells us the King is meeting with the other king this afternoon but her king said she doesn’t need her there. We encourage her to convince her king to have her at his side as one doppleganger has already infiltrated the palace.
We head to the palace. We are greeted by one of King Amoncoil’s aids (Carl). He leads us to the very back of the castle which we soon discover that this is the fortification end of the castle. We are led to a vaulted room. In the room there are several tables with a whole bunch of random items on it and more items hanging on the wall. The King enters and chats with us for a little bit about his vast collection. He also tells us to stick around and join his meeting later with some of the local leaders and representatives from other nations so we can tell them what's going on. As he walks out the door he tells us do not touch the cube that’s on the table. (Vistra now really wants to touch it).
Carl explains what everything in the room is and each person takes what they need/want. Each member also gets 10,000 gold pieces and 100 platinum pieces. (I’m not adding what all was in the room, it's too long and you know what you got.) Two of the more interesting items are the adamantium cube and a patched robe. The cube is a portable fortress that after saying the command word (Blathering Blatherskite) a 20x20x30 tower appears. The patched robe has multiple patches with different item pictures sewn on it. If you take a patch off and throw it in the air, the item on the patch appears.
Next we head to the royal stables to discuss transportation to Eisgfion. The King is giving us a cart and horses to assist on the journey. Since Talmhain is on the river, a river that empties into the sea at Madatricona, Vistra asks about a ferry between the two cities to help shorten the trip some. Carl says he’ll look to see if there’s a ship heading that way and let us know. Then he takes us to the King’s cocktail hour.
Cocktail Hour
At the party the Galarian Ambassador comes over to us and informs us she did check with her people about Foiliag and they are doing more research into him. She does say she has a gift for us and gives us two sets of Books of Twin Message. Each set has the ability to communicate with each other. We will take half of each set and leave the other halves here with people we trust. Azi takes one half and Sorcha takes the other half (and the conversation went downhill quickly from there).
Additional attendance: Baab, Dwarf King and his bodyguard, Higherarch Lyons, Gaia, a Priest in robes with the Ogma symbol, a very handsome man oozing charisma, the Prince, Carl, another Royal Aide, a wood elf in green outfit, Kai, and of course the King.
Tolvin decides to cast detect magic and nothing out of the ordinary lights up. The King speaks first and says there’s something everyone needs to know and hands the “microphone” over to Sorcha who recaps everything that's been going on these last couple of days. The King allows everyone to digest the information and the meeting spends a few minutes discussing the news of Talmhain.
The King then goes back to the matter at hand and asks his guest what they brought for the Ailiya of Five to use. Gaia gives Sorcha a Staff of the Woodlands. The Dwarf King gives Vistra a Ring of the Ram and a Pride Rock Alchemy Jug which of course can produce alcohol. (We dwarfs understand each other). Tolvin gets a Wand of Fireballs from the King’s Wizard. The Bard in attendance gives Althena an Amulet of the Planes. And Lyons gave Azi a wand of Toraches’ Might. The wood elf in the green is introduced by the King as Trindel. He is the “ambassador” from the forest and was sent by Verul. He agrees to tell Verul that we mean her no harm in order to be able to wander the forest looking for Foiliag. He also says he’ll ask her to scout through her forest to try and locate where the ceremony will take place.
The High Priest of Ogma invites us to come to his library to look for books that may be of help to us. Carl states there is a ferry that can take us part of the way and he can get us on pretty easily, we just need to give him a couple days' notice. At this point dessert is served.
The next morning Tolvin (who now magically has a beard), Azi and Althena head to the Temple of Ogma. Tolvin is looking for Tome of Leadership and some other things. Athena is looking for books about planes. They also ask for a book about distilling for Vistra. They collect the books.
